Well, on Friday, our little family of 4 became a family of 5. Ethan wasn't scheduled to come until Monday, however like his sisters he wanted to show Mommy and Daddy who was in charge. Mommy noticed quite a bit of swelling on Wednesday night, and then again even worse on Thursday so she checked her blood pressure and it was through the roof. She was in Ohio for work so when she called the Dr on Friday morning, they told her to head back to Indy and come in for an appointment at 1. Daddy had an interview that afternoon at 3 though and Mommy did not want him to be distracted so instead of telling him about the blood pressure, she recruited Grandma to go with her. The Dr took one look at her swelling and her 150/105 blood pressure and said, C-section today. Remember though, Daddy still didn't know anything about this and thought Mommy was still in Ohio for work, when really she was being admitted to the hospital. So, Mommy talked the Dr into waiting until Saturday morning and when Daddy called after the interview...she broke the news to him. Needless to say, he was a little overwhelmed to find out Mommy was actually in the hospital and not in Ohio. He quickly recovered from the shock though and plans were set in motion.

Bright and early on Saturday then, little Ethan came into this world. Since then he has been doing great. He is an amazing eater and (at least for now) he sleeps a lot.






Sutton and I have been able to visit him a couple of times at the hospital and I am completely in love. I could sit all day holding him and stroking his soft hair. I also spend a lot of time shushing everyone when he's asleep. Sutton on the other hand has been more interested in all of the "fun" things that there are to get into in a hospital, but I'm sure that when he gets home that will change. He does get a lot of "drive by" kisses by her though.





This time around has been a little rough for Mommy though. The C-section was unusually painful for some reason and she struggled to not pass out. Since then she also developed a spinal leak (spinal fluid was leaking from the hole where the spinal block needle entered) and had to have a blood patch (blood injected into the spinal column via an epidural) to seal it. She is doing a lot better this afternoon though and will be coming home tomorrow...then the REAL FUN can begin!!

Baby Ethan...we love you so much and can't wait to get to know you!
